Events
There is a lot going on during the summer months in Iceland. All around the country one can find organized events that range from private family fairs to big festivals. The biggest events that are held in around the country are the Seamen's Day (second Sunday in June), The Independence Day (17 June) and The Merchants Day (first Monday in August). This is also the biggest festival with several huge outdoor events in various places.
Season
The tourist season is starting earlier each spring and finishing later in the fall every year. In some parts, mainly the southwest, the season spans the whole year now. As a general rule throughout the country there are organized events beginning in late May through August but as the season expands in more places there are also more events being planed outside the summer months. It is worth checking if you are coming to Iceland in the winter.
