The Right Whale was the "right whale" to hunt for so long that it was all but exterminated out of the north atlantic. Up until 1990 it had not been seen with certainty for decades. Verified sightings have since proven that a few at least still survive. This bulky slow swimmer has an enormous mouth equipped with very long baleen to filter small crustaceans out of the water. This bulky leviathan is certainly migratory, spending the winters in warmer waters where the calves are born and mating takes place. Hopefully Icelanders can once more enjoy the presence of these whales off their coasts, but this will certainly take a long time since whales populations grow very slowly.
