| The Parliament House built in 1881. Althingi, the oldest parliament in the world, was founded in 930 at Thingvellir. It is one of the more picturesque buildings in downtown Reykjavik and is used for the meetings of Althingi. It is open to the public during the meetings so people can observe the work of their representatives. |
