During winter one popular activity is to deflate the big tires under the specialised trucks so common in Iceland and drive everywhere. This is freedom, as there is nothing to destroy or damage but the snow it is possible to explore places not accessible otherwise. Mt. Snæfell in the background and an ice peak covered with sand to the right. This is the north edge of Vatnajokull glacier and just a short distance away was one of the most beautiful ice caves I have seen, reaching hundreds of meters into the glacier.		Close window
