Fortunately there are no towns in the icelandic highlands. If there were any the highlands wouldn't be the wonderful place they are now. Instead this category will show you the major mountain huts that are available for travellers. There are many big huts that offer accommodation in the highlands. These are usually huts with 2-5 rooms with up to 15 bunks in each room. There is also a kitchen equipped with all the necessary things. The huts are heated with oil and during summer there are people stationed there whose job is to manage the huts and the highlands around. You'll find these people both helpful and resourceful.
