Most of the fjords in North Iceland are huge. Where they end big valleys start often extending tens of kilometres into the mountains. This is the country of big things, fjords, valleys and mountain ridges are as big as they come in this country. All the bigger fjords have towns, fishing towns of course. Whale watching and sea angling are becoming very popular in this area and is available in many of the towns. The roads around the peninsulas between the fjords are worth exploring but the main road lies further inland. The midnight sun can be seen reflecting in these fjords in late June when it never goes below the horizon.
