North Iceland is the land of huge fjords and valleys. There are fishing towns like everywhere in Iceland but there is also much agriculture in the big fertile valleys. The mountain ranges between them are equally monstrous reaching from the high plains inland and usually ending in steep slopes or cliffs by the sea. It is quite populated and has blooming tourist industry and as this is the land of the midnight sun, perhaps more than most other parts of the country, it is certainly worth a visit. All kinds of recreation is available, horse riding, whale watching, fishing and such. An excellent place to spend some time travelling.
