There are some nice towns in North Iceland, Akureyri being the biggest with around 15.000 people. Of the 10 towns or so in the area all are mainly fishing towns but tourism is growing in the area and many different activities are now offered like sea-angling, whale watching and island tours. All the towns have good tourist facilities such as camping, hotels and restaurants. Akureyri, the commercial centre for the north, has the feel of a town much larger than it really is. It is a beautiful town offering travellers almost everything they desire.
