The Northeast is open country, that is, there is not an awful lot of mountains close together as in many other parts of the country, Instead the mountains in the area are all the more spectacular as they often stand on their own as landmarks and can be seen from afar. There is however no shortage of mountains there. Instead of massif mountain ridges that can be found in other parts there is more diversity here ranging from black sandy mountains to green mountains covered in vegetation. Of course there are a few enormous mountain ridges there as well but just not as dominant as in many other regions.
