There are many very interesting and unusual places in Northeast Iceland that aren't easily categorised. The lava around Mt. Askja for example is very unusual. So unusual that it was used to train the astronauts that first landed on the moon. Some of the lava formations around Lake Myvatn are unique, craters and caves with hot water that have been used for bathing are but a few of the wonderful creations of nature that can be found in these parts.
