Northeast Iceland is a big area and it's coastline is long. It is characterised by huge bays usually as wide as they are deep. There are cliffs and sandy beaches and everything in between. Melrakkasletta plain has the northernmost point of Iceland witch is only a few kilometres south of the Arctic Circle. The shoreline is very interesting mostly rocky, rich with bird life and covered in driftwood. Langanes peninsula has long bird cliffs on both sides and is worth a visit but the roads aren't good as the peninsula is no longer populated.
