There are eight towns in Northeast Iceland. The biggest one is Húsavík with around 2500 people on the east coast of Skjálfandaflói bay. The others are much smaller and all are fishing towns except for Reynihlíd the town by Lake Myvatn. Húsavík, the commercial centre for the western part of this area, has excellent facilities for travellers and most of the smaller towns have been gradually building up good services.
