Myrdalssandur is a big sand east of the town Vík. Under Myrdalsjökull glacier in the background is the volcano Katla, an active volcano that erupted last in 1918. An enormous flood followed with ice blocks the size of big houses being carried into the sea. There is great danger for the town of Vík and as Katla expected to erupt again any time.		Close window
