Even though much of South Iceland is flatlands there still is room for many valleys. Thjórsárdalur valley is a place nobody should miss but so are Thórsmörk, Myrdalur, Haukadalur and some other smaller ones. In the mountains around the flatlands many very interesting valleys can be found, different from those already mentioned because they are barren or with very little vegetation. This is what many people, brought up all covered in trees, find the most interesting. And it is, it's beautiful, it's different and it's a good place to observe the competing forces of nature.
