Breidamerkurlon is a glacier lagoon full of ice that has broken from the glacier. There are boats sailing with tourists around the lagoon which is very deep, actually the beginning of a deep fjord that extends well under the glacier. The small strip of land with the bridge in the foreground is being eaten away by the sea and as the fjord on the inside is so deep it is a great threat for the main road and a difficult engineering problem.
