Southeast Iceland only has two towns. Höfn in Hornafjördur is the service centre of the Southeast and also the south part of The East Fjords. With around 2000 people it is situated on a small peninsula between two fjords or lagoons. The lovely surroundings dominated by the ocean and the mountains on each side create a very nice atmosphere in the town and it's a good place to visit. Kirkjubæjarklaustur in the western part of the region is also a service centre with schools, hotels and such services. It is not a big town but offers a broad selection of services and activities.
