Valleys then to be found between mountains and there are many mountains in Southeast Iceland. Therefor there are also many valleys in the region. Along the edge of Vatnajökull the valleys are fairly short but longer ones can be found on either side of the glacier. In the west parts the valleys are smoother with more vegetation but around the glacier they are rougher and steeper with much less vegetation. One place in these parts where it's possible to find some of the most beautiful valleys on earth is Lónsöræfi, a wonderland of natural phenomenom surrounded by equally impressive mountains.
