West Iceland has many rivers including some of the country's best salmon rivers. They can be found everywhere in this part of the country and are very popular by foreigners as well as icelanders. Every walley has one, usually augmented by numerous smaller creeks on their route to the sea. There are many nice waterfalls, some great ones easily reached like Glanni in Nordurá river and Hraunfossar in Hvíta river close to Húsafell. Many can also be seen from the main road.
