The shoreline of West Iceland offers some amazing natural wonders. Places like Arnarstapi and Hellnar with rich birdlife and exceptional rock formations are mandatory and towns like Stykkishólmur and Grundarfjördur are bound to raise some interest too. Many of the long beaches ranging from black to yellow in colour are also easily reached and well worth a closer look. The road around Snæfellsnes peninsula is close to the shoreline in most places and shouldn't be overlooked as this is an excellent route with great scenery.
