Across the fjord Alftafjordur the town of Sudavik can be seen. In a raging blizzard that lasted for days in 1995 an avalanche rushed over the town taking the lives of 14. The town has now been rebuilt in a slightly different location. The same thing happened the next year in the town of Flateyri only this time at the cost of 20 lives.		Close window
