They lay 6-11 eggs in nests that are usually hidden in some vegetation or small bushes. They nest in lowland areas in marshes and islets and tend to use fields more than other dabbling ducks to eat as grass is a big part of their diet. During winter mabey 1/4 of the ducks remain mostly keeping to the coastal areas. Hunting season is 1/9 - 15/3.
