The idea of driving everywhere is an appealing one. To visit unusual and often unreachable places lifts our spirit and gives us a felling of adventure. Winter is an excellent time for this and driving on the snow solves the problem of damaging fragile soil and also makes many difficult to reach places easy to visit. That is if you have the right tools, The Super Trucks.
This 48 photo tour gives you a glimpse of what winter travelling is about and hopefully manages to show you some of the charm of this type of travelling. It includes many aspects from childish astonishment to pure danger. Mistakes can be severely punished but the joy of a good trip is hard to match.
This particular trip took place in april 1999. It started on Reykjanes, the south-western tip of Iceland and took us to Fontur on Langanes peninsula in northeast Iceland. As you'll see it offered all kinds of weather and also many different driving conditions. It was a success. Some experienced truckers are starting to offer these adventure tours and they can be found in this website. Enjoy.
